What a magnificent antique pendant ! This was most likely originally intended for use as a clasp on a necklace. But it's so substantial and gorgeous, I can't imagine it not being the focal piece. This exquisite creation is comprised of 3 separate parts secured on an intricate sterling silver setting. On top is an elegant milgrain sterling silver floral decoration with recessed clear stones. It sits on top of a gorgeous clear glass domed piece with the most intricate reverse engraved vine motif. A base of semi-translucent Jade glass provides a beautiful verdant background. The intricate sterling silver setting has a hidden plunger-style closure on the side.
Small rings on each side hold a tiny finding that will conceal a string knot (these can be removed, if desired).
Beautifully made, with the top 3 pieces "bolted" onto the silver backing.
Stamped Sterling.
Quite weighty, it measures 30mm x 20mm x 10mm (1-1/4" x 3/4" x 3/8" deep). In excellent condition, with practically imperceptible edge nicks on the Jade glass. A couple of the little faceted stones have tiny nicks, which aren't apparent to the unaided eye. |
